Meet Vadim Agafonov, a compassionate individual whose journey with the Deaf Community commenced a decade ago when he connected with Marina Fanshteyn, a Deaf woman on a mission to bridge service gaps, especially in healthcare. Alongside his business partner, Gary Farberov, Vadim assumed a significant role as a financial supporter, playing a crucial part in establishing the Deaf Wellness & Recreation Center.
Their commitment went beyond the initial project; Vadim and Gary acknowledged the necessity of a comprehensive service approach. Actively engaging with key players in various sectors such as transportation, homecare, pharmacy, training, employment, and other healthcare services, they collaborated to establish the United Hands Organization. This one-stop solution center provides logistics and financial support to address the diverse service and programming needs of the Deaf Community.
In addition to his dedication to community service, Vadim is a serial entrepreneur, a resourceful problem solver, and a connector. His advocacy work signifies a commitment to making a lasting impact on the lives of the Deaf Community. Blessed with a lovely wife and a daughter, Vadim cherishes family time and values the support of his business partner, Gary, who joined forces in this transformative project.

Intrigued by the community’s needs, Gary became a significant financial supporter, contributing to the establishment of the Deaf Wellness & Recreation Center, Adult Social Day Care Program in New York City.
His involvement didn’t stop there; Gary recognized the importance of a holistic approach to services. He connected with key players in various areas such as transportation, homecare, pharmacy, training, employment, and other healthcare services, forming a network that addressed the multifaceted needs of the Deaf Community. This collaborative effort eventually led to the creation of the United Hands Organization, a one-stop solution center providing logistics and financial support.

Introducing Marina Fanshteyn, a woman whose journey spans continents, bridging the gap between her Ukrainian roots and the vibrant energy of New York City. Born and raised in Ukraine until high school, Marina now calls the bustling metropolis her home.
As a mother of a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and a proud grandmother, Marina’s life is a beautiful tapestry woven with family, education, and a deep commitment to the Deaf and DeafBlind communities. Graduating with a dual degree in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting Finance and Healthcare Management, she possesses a unique skill set that has been instrumental in her various roles within the community.
Marina has been a driving force in the Deaf and DeafBlind world, inspiring and establishing programs and services, particularly in the realms of employment, social services, and healthcare. Her dream of a comprehensive One Stop Solution for Deaf and DeafBlind individuals became a reality with the birth of the United Hands Organization. Alongside two amazing co-founders, Marina ensures that logistics and financial backing cover every possible gap in services for the Deaf community.
Beyond her impactful work, Marina finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid book reader and a fan of Korean Drama series, she embraces the role of a grandmother, cherishing moments spent with her grandson. Traveling with her loving life partner, cooking, and spending time with her elderly parents are among the many facets that make up Marina’s rich and fulfilling life.

Meet Linda Cummings, a California native with a heart that now beats to the rhythm of New York City. Currently calling the Big Apple home, Linda has built her life around the service industry, where her passion for helping people truly shines.
Linda thrives on being the connector, the person who makes things happen by providing excellent and friendly services. Her journey in the service business has been a fulfilling one, fueled by a genuine desire to witness positive and impactful life changes in those she interacts with.

Meet Shadrika Bracy, affectionately known as “Rika” to those close to her. A dedicated mother of three young children and a loving wife, Shadrika discovered her true passion as a natural problem solver.
Whether it’s advocating for someone in need, providing interpretation services, or finding solutions to complex issues like healthcare and social services, Shadrika is the go-to person. Her educational journey at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she studied business and communication, laid the foundation for her passion in connecting with the community and people who hold the keys to solutions.
In her free time, you’ll likely find Shadrika at the playground, wholeheartedly engaged in the laughter and play of her kids. It’s in these moments that her caring nature truly shines. Introducing Donna DeMaso-Butera, a true Brooklynite born and raised with a heart as vibrant as the borough she calls home. Donna’s journey has been woven with a passion for serving the Deaf and DeafBlind communities, leaving an indelible mark in various institutions.
Having worked at the St. Francis School for the Deaf, Deaf Wellness & Recreation Center, and the Big Apple Homecare Agency, Donna’s commitment to making a difference is unwavering. As a board member of the Staten Island Club for the Deaf, one of the oldest Deaf clubs in NYC, she actively contributes to the community’s vibrancy.
Donna’s mind is a treasure trove of creative ideas for programs and services, always pushing the boundaries to enhance the lives of those she serves. A proud Italian, she finds joy in the art of cooking and relishes large family gatherings, especially now as a grandma with two CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) children.
Known for her generosity, Donna is the one who always shares her delicious cookies, embodying the warmth of her heart. Her patience and grace, coupled with a heart of gold, make her a beacon of support for anyone in need. Donna is ever-ready to lend a helping hand, reflecting her genuine care for others.
